About JB Faires

JB Faires is a freelance bassist and educator in central Illinois. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in jazz performance with a minor in ethnomusicology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, as well as MA and BM degrees in music performance and jazz studies from Eastern Illinois University. JB regularly performs on double bass and electric bass with many diverse and popular groups, playing styles from Appalachian to Zydeco and everything in between, in addition to providing live sound engineering and entertainment services.

As a musician, educator, sound engineer, vintage furniture dealer, construction worker, commercial painter, graphic designer, printer, rock star, (I'm sure I'm leaving out a few) and last---but not least---family man,
